Have you ever heard of Snopes.com? It’s a great sight for confirming
or squashing those forwarded emails that you get claiming such things as,
Recent study proves George W. Bush has the lowest IQ of all presidents of the past fifty years.
or
Barack Obama was sworn into office on the Quran
Both are false.
Fisher Space Pens appears on Snopes - I just ran across it this morning and thought it was noteworthy based on my post from yesterday. Here’s the email:
Thought for the day.During the space race back in the 1960’s, NASA was faced with a major problem. The astronaut needed a pen that would write in the vacuum of space. NASA went to work. At a cost of $1.5 million they developed the Astronaut Pen. Some of you may remember. It enjoyed some minor success on the commercial market. The Russians were face with the same dilemma. They used a pencil.
Snopes of course lets everyone know this is false - but just to reiterate from yesterday … NASA paid nothing for the development of the Astronaut Pen … and the Russians also use Fisher Space Pens!
