I was at Walgreens last night writing a check.  As I always do, I took my Bullet Pen out of my purse and played with it a little before opening it up and using it.  I like to do that because I like to show it off and I like to savor the writing experience.

I started thinking about that as I was waiting for my receipt and it made me feel sad for all the people who can’t enjoy their pens.  Whether its letter writing or bill paying, there is so much more enjoyment when you are using a handsome, high quality writing implement.

I am making it my mission this Christmas to give my loved one’s the Fisher Pen experience.  I gave a few Space Pens last year and I am still being thanked.  I am excited this year because I can also choose from theHandmade Pens at Cyber Space Pens.  The Crushed Sunflower Shells Carbara is one that I become more fond of every time I look at it.  It has a masculine look to it, I can see my brother loving it.  It comes with the Triangular Maple Wood Box which serves as a holder as well as a display.  I will definitely have it engraved … I just haven’t figured out what to put on it yet.

I think I have met my soul mate.  I was checking out at the store with huge cart load of groceries and I couldn’t find my Titanium Bullet Pen. 

Apparently the very ruggedly handsome gentleman in line behind me noticed my panic because he offered me his pen, just I found my treasured bullet.  I smiled and held up my pen as looked at the pen he was holding out … and my heart stopped.  He was extending his Black X-Mark Flat Cap Pen in my direction! 

Not only was it a Fisher Space Pen … it was a manly Fisher Space Pen.  It seemed like time slowed to a crawl as I could see that he was realizing that I was a fellow Space Pen owner.  I quickly turned it to show my name, so grateful that it was engraved, and he followed suit!  It was clear we were completely on the same wave length. 

The impatient check-out lady brought us back to reality and I proceeded to write my check and leave the store … and the stranger named John.  I am going to be shopping there a lot more often!

The Chrome Military Bullet Pens are among the sharpest of the Fisher Space Pens.  It seems fitting to have a line of “Bullet Pens” designated to the military and this line also come in Matte Black and Marine Corps Red.  The Chrome Bullets stand out among the three though, perhaps because they have that polished look.  They are definitely not the pens for combat, they are for a dress uniform or a retired soldier context.  Actually, one of these pens is the perfect gift for a member who is departing the military.  I got a plaque … it’s neat, but a Fisher Space Pen with the Army Logo on it … I could still be using that!

These pens have the Fisher PR4 black medium point pressurized refill, so they will write upside down, under water, and in any environment you will come across.  You can also buy additional refills, so again, had I been given a Fisher Pen upon departing the Army many years ago, I could have purchased refills and still be using it. 

If you know a service member who is actively serving or is nearing the end of their service, consider a gift of a Chrome Military Bullet Pen.  You can engrave it with their name and include their departing rank - or you can engrave the name of their unit on the pen instead.  Either way, twenty years later, they’ll still be using it and remembering where it came from.

What do you do when a friend just doesn’t get it?  I brought my Titanium Nitride Bullet Pen to work to show off to my friend and she was decidedly unmoved by the experience.  I know that we all have our different tastes, interests, and such … but to not be able to recognize and appreciate the uniqueness and value of a Fisher Space Pen …. I am at a loss.

I am trying not to let this affect our friendship - but there is a loss of respect that just can’t be helped.  She is the only person I know who just does not get it.   Oh well, I won’t let her know that I see her differently now.  She’s to be pitied, not judged.  I think I will just have to get her a Purple Passion Bullet (her favorite color).  Maybe if she uses a Fisher for awhile, she’ll come around.

As I was making out my bills with my lovely Titanium Nitride Bullet Pen, I was thinking about how all this time I have gone on and on about Fisher Space Pens and I only just figured out how they work.  It was very woman of me to only be concerned with the look of the pen and how perfectly it worked and not worry about why.  I am bad about getting my oil changed too.

Anyway, I am quite pleased with myself for finally taking some initiative, but now it seems no one ever asks me about Fisher Pens.  Isn’t that always the way.  I think I will just tell people without waiting for their inquiry … I’ll just casually bring it up in conversation.  “Have you heard of Fisher Space Pens?  You haven’t?  Oh, here go to www.cyberspacepens.com.  Okay, click on the Bullet Pens.  Now check out the Lifetime Pens.  Yeah they mean it — 80 years!  Wanna know how they work?  Let me break it down for you ….”

I think it’s always good to have a plan.  I also think it might be time to get my oil changed.

My daughter asked me why I haven’t had much to say about the Painted Bullet Pens.  I think she may be becoming as fixated I am as with Fisher Space Pens.  I gave her my honest answer, they are not my favorite colors.  I like black and shiny stuff.  She argued that the “Pepto-Bismol” Pink Bullet Pen is so pretty - so I had to go look and refresh my memory.  She was right, it is pretty … even though I am not a big fan of pink.  Since I was one that page, I decided to give the Camouflage Pen another look.  I used to be in the Army, so I can appreciate a little camouflage here and there.  Oh yeah, when I looked at that one - it’s definitely more my style.  I glanced at the Red Bullet … if red is your favorite color … it’s awesome!  (Sadly it’s not mine)

I wish the pictures could give a better indication of the size.  Stop and visualize 3-3/4″ - it’s little … but mighty.  As the recipient of the coveted Go Cowboys pen said, “It’s small but substantial … it’s got some weight to it.”  It’s 5-3/8″ when ready to write, so it’s not too small to hold … it’s perfect.

One of the first Fisher Space Pens I ever saw was the Lime Green Bullet Pen with the Golf Ball on it.  It was a case of love at first site.  I am not a golfer, but I appreciate the sport and know how seriously golfers take the game.  When I saw this pen I wanted to buy one for every golfer I knew - it’s just so fun!  How could anyone see this pen and not smile?

You can also get this pen in Chrome and it is still fun - just not loud and fun.  It would be a great gift for that golfer who just wouldn’t appreciate the statement that a Lime Green Bullet Pen makes.  I have both types of golfer folks in my life and I am sure you do too.  I won’t call them uptight  — just … grown-up.

As with the other Bullet Pens, these Specialty Bullet Pens are 3-3/4 inches long when capped (great size for golfing) and 5-3/8 inches long when they are ready to write.  They also contain PR4 black medium point pressurized Fisher refills.

So, number three on my list is the Lime Green Bullet with the Golf Ball.  I will finally leave the Bullet Pen category when I tell you about number four on my list.  Ahhh … the anticipation!

Someone asked me which Fisher Space Pen is my favorite.  Hopefully, it’s because she is planning to buy me a present.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t pick only one.  It really does depend on my mood.  However, I am pretty consistent with which ones are on the top ten or so list, and if anyone is paying attention they can already name several that would make that list.

Assuming that no one is paying attention, except my potential gift-buyer, I will restate my favorites and why.

The focus of this entry will be Bullet Pens, specifically the Lacquered Bullet Pens.  First of all, I just love how the Bullets look when capped.  It’s unfortunate that the pictures don’t  give a better representation of their mere 3-3/4 inch size when capped.  As to my favorite among the Lacquered Bullets … it truly is a mood thing, but I go back and forth between the Lime Green Bullet and the Red Cherry Bullet.  To me, the clips are an essential part of these pens because the chrome on the clip and the end of the pen provide such a great accent to the vibrant colors.

They are classy, fun, and colorful … Lacquered Bullet Pens with Clips definitely make the top ten.
