I was reminiscing with an old classmate the other day and we were trying to remember old teachers. It’s funny how some teachers are forgotten, some become no more than names, and some stay etched in your mind forever.
Etched in my mind is Mrs Stephenson, my sixth grade teacher. She wasn’t a touchy feely, warm kind of teacher - she was a nice, fair, and very smart teacher. I remember how she treated the boys that would now be labeled ADHD. She never made them feel dumb like other teachers I had seen, she simply disciplined them with no anger. It wasn’t just her simple kindness that stayed with me, it was all that she taught me. I cannot remember much I learned from any particular grade in my K-12 education, but I remember a great deal from that year.
Mrs. Stephenson was only at my school for one year and I have no idea what ever happened to her. I was telling another friend about her when I was talking about buying my boys’ teachers Fisher Space Pens. I think if I knew where she was today, I would get her a Neck Chain Pen, because she always had her reading glasses attached around her neck. I really hope I will one day get the opportunity to tell her that she reached at least one student.
Are there and teachers that made a lasting impact on your life? Why not let them know - you just make make there day or even their year.

It’s
getting time to start thinking about graduation. I know it’s only
March, but May tends to sneak up and arrive without notice. It’s not to
early to consider who you are going to get graduation announcements
from and who you are going to take the time to buy actual gifts for.
It may seem easier to drop a check in a card, but five years from now,
will the recipient remember?
Pens used to be one of the standard gifts given to recognize a student’s efforts, and it’s a shame that we’ve decided that money is sufficient. Perhaps it’s because these days, grads send to every possible person they can think of who might reward them with a check. I am not suggesting a pen for some kid you barely know, I am thinking of close family or friends. A Fisher Space Pen means something, so it should be given to someone who means something to you.
For a high school graduate, consider the X-Marks Series Pens. These are great pens, but their price will allow you to include a check with the gift if that’s what you want to do. The X-750 Pens take it up a notch, which I think makes them more appropriate for a college grad - because they are usually more responsible. A Neck Chain Pen is a great option for any female graduate.
These are just suggestions. Check out all the Fisher Pens and consider the personalities for which you will be buying. Of course, you’ll want to engrave your gift. It won’t slow down your shipment time at all and it definitely adds an extra touch to an already supremely classy gift.

My boys have great teachers this year, so naturally I have been thinking about getting them Fisher Pens
at the end of the year and I have been trying to get a handle on which
pen for each teacher. They have personalities that are very different
from each other and at this point I am not sure what to get. Right
now, I am leaning toward the Sterling Silver Neck Chain Pen - for the first grade teacher and the Chrome X-Mark Flat Cap Pen for the fourth grade teacher. I think it will be neat to have their names engraved in the form of Mrs. ________.
As I have pondered that, I thought it would be a neat tradition to do that for every teacher they have as they go through elementary school … but then something happened yesterday that gave me pause. I was helping out with recess and I met one of the second grade teachers. Whoa - was she scary! I hope she is not my boy’s teacher next year. If she is, I won’t want to buy her a Fisher Space Pen, but I can’t really buy for one of my boys’ teachers and not the other. Oh well, I will cross that bridge when the time comes … in the mean time, I have two months to decide on this year’s pens.
