I
was just reading about how the American Girl dolls are really made in
China. It seems like every week we hear of a manufacturer sending jobs
overseas where the labor is cheaper. As I was reading, I decided to
learn a little more about the this subject. After some time spent in my
research, I decided that the entire topic makes me very tired.
The way I understand it is that Americans want the cheap prices found at superstores and in foreign-made products - so that’s where we put our dollars. Manufacturers, in turn, have to figure out ways to cut costs which sends manufacturing out of the country. We lose jobs and have less to spend on our wants and needs, so we go for the superstores and the foreign-made products. Nice little cycle.
Yes, I know that I am way over simplifying it - like I said, the subect makes me tired. Fortunately for me, I don’t have to worry about it too much, since Fisher Space Pens are still proudly made right here in the USA. Yep, the Apollo Pens, the Astronaut Pens, the Shuttle Pens, and the Thunderbird Pens … they all sound like they should be made in America … and they are!
